TERMINOLOGY
  • A = Number of reportable injuries

  • B = Man days lost due to reportable injuries

  • X = Man hours worked during the year

  • Y1 = Longest accident free period during the year

  • Y2 = Longest accident free period since the last accident

  • Y3 = Number of million man-hours worked since the last accident

  • F.R. = Frequency Rate = (No. of reportable injuries x 1000000) / X

  • S.R. = Severity Rate = (No. of man-days lost x 1000000) / X

  • I. I. = Injury Index = (F.R.xS.R.) / 1000

  • S.M. = Safety Marks

  • ILM = Involvement of Line Management

  • HK = Housekeeping

  • N1 = Number of engineers & supervisors trained in industrial safety during the year

  • T1 = Total number of engineers & supervisors working in the unit during the year

  • N2 = Number of workmen trained in industrial safety during the year

  • T2 = Total number of workmen working in the unit during the year

  • N3 = Number of contractors workers trained in industrial safety during the year. (Wherever value of N3 is given more than T3, it is considered equal to T3 ).

  • T3 = Total number of contractors workers employed in the unit during the year

  • F1 = N1/T1

  • F2 = N2/T2

  • F3 = N3/T3

  • TM1 = 25F1<= 5

  • TM2 = 25F2 <= 5

  • TM3 = 10F3 <= 10

  • T.M. / ISTM = Industrial Safety Training Marks = TM1+TM2+TM3. If T3 = 0 then T.M. = 2 ( TM1 + TM2 ).

  • EPA = Efforts and Promotional Activities

  • S.N. = Safety Numbers = SM (ISS) + ILM + HK + TM (ISTM) + EPA

  • N.M. = Negative Marking ( Based on presence of occupational disease, pending recommendations of RI, withdrawl of construction consent and violation of minimum requirements as notified by AERB )

  • Final Score = S.N. - N.M.
