Bilateral Cooperation with USNRC

AERB hosted the 16th bilateral meeting with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) during August 08-10, 2018 at AERB, Mumbai. A four member delegation led by Mr. Michael John Case, Director,  Divisions of Systems Analysis, office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, NRC participated in the meeting. AERB delegation was led by Mr. Dinesh Kumar Shukla, Executive Director, AERB. Apart from AERB officials, experts from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting technical discussions took place in the areas of Spent Fuel Pool Cooling, Decommissioning Rulemaking of NPPs, Accident Analysis for PHWR & LWR, Integrity Assessment of NPP Components & Non-Destructive Evaluation, Low Dose Research and Source Oversight and Patient Protection. During discussion, an update on events of leak from pressure tubes in Kakrapar -1&2 NPP was provided to NRC delegation.
